William IV Regency period sterling silver sugar sifter spoon. Hallmarked Joseph & Albert Savory, 1836 , London.
William IV Regency period sterling silver sugar sifter spoon. Hallmarked Joseph & Albert Savory, 1836 , London.
A very well made and substantial William IV sterling silver sugar sifter spoon, with marks for Joseph & Albert Savory, 1836 , London. Crisp hallmarks and thick gauge. The Savory family business worked in both gold and silver, signs that they catered to the upper echelons of society.
Un-monogrammed, the cartouche has been left blank for its next owner.
Sadly an over-enthusiastic polisher in its past history has scrubbed much of its gilt off, but this remains a beautiful piece with all the hallmarks of late Regency over-the-top luxury.
Price marked at $700 AUD.
Measurements: 18cm length, 74grams weight.
Excellent antique condition asides the aforementioned gilt loss.
