Vintage Steiff 1950s to 1960s “Jolanthe” stuffed toy pig, made in Germany

Here we have a lovely vintage Steiff “Jolanthe” stuffed toy pig, made in Germany circa 1950s to 1960s.

Steiff needs little to no introduction as the world’s premier teddy bear and stuffed toy maker. With its origins dating to 1880, it remains the best known luxury toymaker.

Beautifully made with blue glass eyes, hand-air brushed details to the face and body and hand stitched felt details which make each Steiff piece of this period unique. Other charming details include her felt tongue and a red rope collar from which hangs her chest tag.

This charming “Jolanthe” toy features the iconic Steiff ear button, here with the raised script variation. In conjunction with the style of its original ear and chest tag, these features date this to the 1950s up to 1969. Vintage Steiff toys are rarely found with all original tags, particularly the chest tag, making these particularly collectible. As seen here, the tag bears the name “Jolanthe” and the serial number 1310,085.
