Vintage Near Antique Edward VIII/George VI Liberty of London sterling silver planished circular tray, Birmingham 1936
This Liberty of London silver circular tray circa 1936 is one of the loveliest pieces we currently have inshore.
The hand-raised form and hand-hammered planished details are quintessential Liberty hallmarks of excellent craftsmanship, evoking the Arts and Crafts period which made Liberty a household name. Its elegant simplicity means that it suits a variety of decor, with the border pattern being a nod to the Celtic Revival style that was ushered in by master Liberty designer Archibald Knox. This would be excellent for wine tasting nights or a subtle statement piece.
It is marked to the base with the pattern number 5034 / 50354, as well as hallmarks for Liberty & Co., Birmingham 1936.
Price marked at AUD$2600.
Measurements: 25.5 cm diameter, 435 grams total weight.
Excellent near antique condition with some very light superficials dents commensurate with age and wear. Due to the hand-hammered details, these dents are not too noticeable unless actively looking for them.
