Here we have a beautiful vintage possibly antique French Houbigant red guilloché enamel and brass pressed powder compact, likely circa 1920s. Exquisitely detailed with hand-engined details and white enamel border, with most of the original powder still within. The insert is stamped Houbigant 291 2k0 France to the base.
Houbigant was one of the most notable perfume houses of the 18th and 19th century, and was perfumer to the royal courts of Europe including Napoleon, Napoleon III, Alexander III of Russia, and Queen Victoria. The house still produces perfume today and produces scents inspired by their heritage.
Price marked at $160 AUD. Measurements: 5cm diameter, 1.5cm height. Excellent antique condition. Only the slightest trace of wear to enamel, and some light wear to brass. Considering the delicate nature of guilloché enamel this can be considered near-mint.
