Victorian Prattware Pot Lid "Master of the Hounds", Mid 19th Century

A lovely mid to late Victorian pot lid that would suit any Prattware collector- or perhaps a country kitchen?

This rare pot lid is titled “Master of the Hounds” and depicts a classic English Fox Hunting scene. Circa 1860-70s, this is a quintessential example of Victorian Prattware, and demonstrates the daily entertainment available in Victorian times.

The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time. These showcase both the beauty and function inherent in many such wares during Victorian times..
