Late 19th century Victorian Aesthetic Movement sterling silver sweetheart brooch. Such brooches, made circa the 1880s, were highly popular with romantic motifs inspired by the Aesthetic movement which was then en vogue.
Central motif of a river bird, likely a crane, an English take on Egyptian motifs which were popular at the time.
With original C clasp, locket compartment with hair and base metal pin, this is a beautiful example of Victorian silver jewellery and is highly collectible.
Price marked at $140 AUD.
Measurements: 3.3cm diameter.
Excellent antique condition. Unmarked but tests as sterling silver which is common to these particular pieces of this period.
