A beautiful High Victorian sterling silver master salt with marks for London, 1847, John Evans II (active from 1836 to 1862). Beautifully made, with repousse work throughout including a Victorian take on the winged sun motif and three figural hooved feet in the shape of turbaned heads. Initials in script of the period to cartouche. A rare and unusual piece that speaks to the Victorian fascination with cultures of antiquity.
