Set of 6 Regency period sterling silver entree forks with marks for London 1810 (4 forks) and 1825 (2 forks), and by Mary & Eliza Sumner and Thomas Dicks respectively.
Mary Sumner was the widow of silversmith William Sumner I. After his death she cotinued the family business, and two of these forks were made during her partnership with daughter Eliza which was active for four brief years from 1809 to 1814, making them a beautiful example of early English female silversmithing.
The two later spoons are presumably additions by original owners in later years and were made by Thomas Dicks who was in partnership from 1821 to 1831 or 1832, the year of his presumed death.
Price marked at $1000 AUD the set.
Measurements: 15.7cm height, 5.5cm diameter at widest point. 203 grams total weight.
Very good antique condition with minor surface blemishes and wear commensurate with age. .
