This beautiful set of 6 Chinese export silver spoons bear the mark for Jiu Xia, possibly a branch of Fang Jiu Xia, a rare and important maker in Shanghai active from 1880-1925. Known as one of the 9 great silvermakers of Shanghai, their work is scarce.
These are likely circa the first quarter of the 20th century, with a distinct and elegant shape that make these ideal for Chinese cuisine. A clear expression of what gives Chinese export silver its own distinctive aesthetic.
Price marked at $2280 AUD for the set.
Measurements: 19cm length, 285grams total weight.
