Beautiful antique Russian Imperial .875 silver lidded cache pot with hinged lid and twin handles, circa Tsar Alexander II’s reign. Town mark for Moscow, assay marks for 1869, Viktor or Veniamin Savinsky, who were both active in Moscow during this period. Maker’s mark in Cyrillic, MШ (Meh), maker unknown. Marked 84 which under the kokoshnik system indicates .875 silver purity.
A very distinctive Russian aesthetic which sets this apart from its Continental contemporaries.
