A charming vintage Royal Doulton John Barleycorn toby jug with rare inside handle design, designed by Charles Noke circa 1934 to 1939. With an A mark to the base denoting a Georgian clay body which was used from 1939 to 1955, this is a lovely and folkloric piece. John Barleycorn was immortalised in folk songs, including Sir Robert Burns, as the personification of barley, beer and whiskey.
