Beautiful Royal Doulton Flambe Veined pin or trinket dish, circa mid 20th century (1950s to 1960s). Beautiful colouration, with each piece being unique due to the use of Royal Doulton’s signature glaze during the firing process.
The art of flambé glaze or “sang de bouef” in the West was directly inspired by Ming dynastic pottery practices. Precise temperatures were required in order for the oxides to flash red; this skill only emerged in the West centuries later, with pioneers such as Charles Noke finally achieving this technique. Royal Doulton flambeware remains highly collectible today.

Royal Doulton factory and Flambe Veined backstamp to base, as well as pattern number #1620.

Price marked at $80AUD.
Measurements: 11cm diameter.
Excellent vintage condition.
