Rare antique S.S. Stewart “Student” Tenor banjo

Here we have a very rare antique S.S. Stewart “Student” Tenor banjo, circa turn of the century (1900s to 1910). Stewart was a musician and composer who later became one of the largest banjo manufacturers in the U.S., and produced some of the finest banjos ever made. Beautifully made with Stewart’s signature silver wrapped rim (white metal but described as such by Stewart aficionados), this is a fine example of this renowned maker’s craftsmanship.

Measurements: 91cm length, 28.5cm head diameter.

Fair antique condition. Some losses to mother of pearl inlay of tuning pegs, white metal needs a polish; we have left this as found. Serial number 6410.
