Rare antique HMAS Brisbane cast iron souvenir circa 1912

A rare cast iron souvenir paperweight commemorating HMAS Brisbane circa 1912; the ship would officially begin construction in 1913.   

One of the first cruisers built for the RAN, HMAS Brisbane patrolled Australian waters in World War One. It would also be active after WWI in the Asia Pacific region, including in relief efforts during the Po Hing Fong disaster in Hong Kong, until finally being decommissioned and broken up in 1936.

A rare and important piece of Australian naval history.
