In 1786, the Pallme glassworks was first established in Austria. By 1880-1890s the firm of Pallme-Konig was making some of the best glass in Europe. In particular they were renowned during the Art Nouveau period for their signature iridized glass.

Artisans would carefully wind hot glass trails around the iridized glass, forming a sinuously organic lattice- the whole piece would then be blown into a mold so that the trails were pressed into the glass.

This particular piece is circa 1890 to 1900s. As a earlier example of Pallme-Koenig's signature technique, this piece melds glassblowing techniques to stunning effect.

The intricate lattice work detailing this piece is fully intact, while the pewter fittings are in very good condition. Overall in very good antique condition, lid shows some wear commensurate with age while fittings are in excellent condition. Some wear on glaze on base, overall still excellent antique condition.
