During our recent trip to Korea we had the pleasure of sourcing some fantastic Chinese ceramics, including these new old stock midcentury Jingdezhen ginger jars.
Possibly dating to the 60s to 70s, these are a highly unusual colour way, a larger size than we usually find in vintage ginger jars and are a matching pair.
They feature hand painted gold ruyi details on a black background and the Jingdezhen signature of handpainted enamels, here seen rendered as exquisite flowers in a heavy overglaze. A handpainted yunwen or leiwen border pattern to the lid and base completes the look, as do the gilt finials.
The apocryphal Qianlong reign mark in zhuangshu is one that was favoured in Jingdezhen circa the 60s to 70s. As always Jingdezhen is synonymous with the finest Chinese porcelain to be produced.
They are frankly fabulous pieces and would delight any collector of midcentury ceramics, ginger jars or Jingdezhen porcelain.

Price marked at AUD$1500 for the pair.
Measurements: Approx 25cm height, 14cm across at widest point.
Overall very good vintage condition. Some light wear to glaze, base and inside of lids commensurate with age. One area of wear to the base of the right hand side jar.
