Here we have a beautiful Victorian sterling silver Lily pattern serving spoon with marks for London, 1860, The Portland Company. This company was founded by Francis Higgins III, scion of the Higgins silversmithing company, and was active from 1859 to 1862.

This design was first registered in 1850 by Elkington, and appears in the Chawner & Co. pattern book as Lily.

A lovely example of mid-Victorian naturalism, services in this pattern are scarce and desirable.

Beautifully engraved crest of lion rampant with shield under sinister paw, this spoon is substantial and of thick gauge.

Price marked at $3750 AUD.

Measurements: 254 grams, 30cm length.

Excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age. Marks crisp and well-struck.
