Mid to late 19th Century Victorian Prattware Pot Lid, Family Picnic and Countryside Waterfall Scene

This rare Victorian Prattware pot lid is decorated with a scene depicting a family, a young couple and their newborn, having a picnic against a picturesque countryside waterfall scene.

A relatively scarce pattern which showcases the technical excellence and whimsical charm of Prattware. The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time. These showcase both the beauty and function inherent in many such wares during Victorian times.

Condition: Light crazing as pictured, as well as overall staining and light wear commensurate with age. Tiny fleabites to rim and wear to base pictured, not visible when displayed. Overall good antique condition.
