Among our many fantastic finds, a selection of highly rare and collectible Prattware lidded pots. This particular example circa 1850 is captioned Tam O’Shanter, named after the eponymous poem written in 1790 by Robert Burns.
Here we see the protagonist of the poem fleeing across the River Doon, pursued by a host of devils and witches. Prattware referenced popular subjects in the Victorian imagination, and it would be no surprise to find these soaring in popularity with the Highland craze that occurred in the later half of the 19th century after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s purchase of Balmoral.
Providing a window through which one might peer into the Victorian mind, true antique Prattware is desired by many collectors.

Measurements: Approx 10.5 pot lid diameter, 9.5 cm high.
Condition: Fair antique condition, with wear to the lid, lid base and pot base as pictured.
