A fine Mappin & Webb George VI sterling silver serving tray/ charcuterie board, with marks for Sheffield, 1937.

This is a statement piece sure to become a future heirloom, with fine engine turned details and beaded borders. With its timber base, this is perfect for any gourmand or well-heeled bon vivant.

Mappin & Webb is one of the most storied silversmiths and jewellers in England if not worldwide. First having held a Royal Warrant since Queen Victoria in 1897, they have continuously held one till the present day.
Their quality meant that they were the silversmiths of choice for royalty around the world, including the British throne, Russian Imperial Household and multiple Indian Maharajas (one of whom ordered a bedroom suite, including a solid silver four poster bed, to be made and shipped to his palace). Other patrons included Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly and more. Churchill in particular was fond of the solid gold ashtrays, which no doubt served good stead for his cigars.

Price marked at $7,250AUD for the set.

Measurements: 41.5cm by 26.5cm base measurements, approx. 2.5cm height . 1202.5 grams silver weight.

Excellent vintage condition overall. Substantial and thick gauge, marks crisp and clear.
