A lovely framed mid to late Victorian pot lid that will appeal to Prattware and literature enthusiasts alike, carefully mounted in a timber shadow box frame. Titled “Shakespeare’s House Henley St Stratford on Avon, this depicts the famous playwright’s house. Circa 1850-60s, this is a quintessential example of Victorian Prattware, as well as a classical depiction of English life.
The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time.
