Lovely chinoiserie Victorian twin-handled stoneware platter circa 1845-1860s, J. Ridgway, Bates and Co
Lovely chinoiserie Victorian twin-handled stoneware platter circa 1845-1860s, J. Ridgway, Bates and Co
A very handsome Victorian twin-handled stoneware platter in a lovely chinoiserie pattern, with a diamond registration dated to 4th December, 1845. This pattern was used up until the 1870s by Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co.; we believe this pattern and this plate originates from the preceding partnership, J. Ridgway, Bates and Co, as the diamond mark was used circa 1842-1867.
A very good example of Victorian transferware, with rich cobalt and details to border.
Price marked at $330 AUD.
Measurements: 35cm across, 31.5cm plate diameter.
Overall very good antique condition. Light overall crazing and wear to outer rim commensurate with age.
