This beautiful late Victorian Walker & Hall silverplated crystal centrepiece is an absolutely stunning piece, sure to make a statement without breaking the bank.
Walker & Hall, which was founded in 1845 by George Walker operated under this name from 1853 to 1920. They were among the best in plated silver items and this piece shows their reputation was well deserved.
This piece was almost certainly used during formal occasions or dinners for displaying seafood platters; certainly it would still be excellent for that use nowadays. Dishes around the comfort could be used to serve oysters, while the top could be used to serve platters or a fabulous prawn cocktail.
There are so many lovely details to this piece; the etched leaf motifs around the crystal bowl, intricately etched flowers, scrollwork and best of all the curling fern fronds that serve to support the bowl.
Overall in excellent condition the plated silver is in fantastic almost mint antique condition. The crystal is in good condition as well with only tiny nibbles around the rim, barely noticeable even upon close condition and which is perfectly usual for crystal of this age. Certainly still excellent to use and admire.
Measurements
Crystal bowl diameter of approximately 17 cm.
Each dish Is approximately 17 x 12 cm.
Overall size approximately 27 x 20 cm.
