Late 19th to early 20th century French 'Japonisme' Frame

This late 19th to early 20th century French Japonisme frame is one of our newest arrivals instore. It’s also one of our favourites, mingling as its does fine French design with Japanese inspired elements such as stylised chrysanthemums and peonies. In the 19th century Japanese art inspired various artists, including many leaders of the Impressionist movement; Degas and Van Gogh among them. A precursor to the Art Nouveau movement, one can see various elements that foreshadow it in this lovely frame.

Measurements: Approximately 19.5 cm diameter; Frame opening approx 7 cm dia 

Condition: The frame needs new glass put in, and several of the original pins are missing. Some wear to the frame finish.
