A fascinating piece of World War One history, here we have King Albert’s Book, published in 1914 as a tribute to the King and people of Belgium in recognition of the part they played in World War 1.

King Albert's Book: A Tribute to the Belgian King and People from Representative Men and Women Throughout the World. Edited by Hall Caine, with written contributions by luminaries such as PM Asquith, Lord Balfour, HH Aga Khan, Rudyard Kipling and more, as well as many fine illustrations and tipped in colour plates by Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, Maxfield Parrish, Edmund Dulac & others.

King Albert 1 was known for his interest in social reform both domestically and abroad, touring the Belgian Congo in 1928 and promoting social reforms there, and stands in marked contrast to his predecessor King Leopold II.
