A lovely Crown Devon Art Deco Luster twin-handled plate, circa 1920s to 1930s. It is beautifully made in a rare green colourway with a fish-scale pattern to the body, as well as stylised floral patterns to the top of the plate. The iridized glaze is in excellent condition and displays good play of colours. A very nice piece perfect for Art Deco collectors and would be a charming addition to any dining area.
The famous Crown Devon name refers to wares produced by S. Fielding & Co. Ltd in Stoke - one of the Staffordshire potteries. They commenced trading in 1879 at the Railway Pottery and moved to the Devon Pottery in 1911 (..
Active from 1879 to 1982, they began as S. Fielding & Co in Stoke until they moved to the Devon Pottery in 1911. They would go on to to introduce the name of Crown Devon in 1921 which produced some of the finest lustreware pieces of the Art Deco period.
