Stunning sterling silver George V English Art Deco inter-war period sterling silver biscuit barrel with marks for Sheffield, 1932, Gladwin Ltd. lovely geometric details to sides and under the rim of the biscuit barrel. Substantial and thick gauge.
Gladwin was a prolific and popular manufacturer of silverware during the early 20th century, later being acquired by Mappin & Webb in 1959. While they would later shutter in 1971 while under the umbrella of British Silverware Ltd, their surviving pieces such as this lovely biscuit barrel speak to the quality of their work.
