George II Sterling Silver gravy or sauce boat, Robert Innes, London, 1752.
A lovely and substantial George II sterling silver gravy or sauce boat by renowned maker Robert Innes, London, 1752.
Many charming details on this piece, including the fluted detail to the feet, repousse work to the handle and elegant lines to the rim. Perhaps the best detail is the family crest depicting a flying phoenix in flames, indicating it likely belonged at some point to the Robertson Family, an established lineage with English and Scottish branches.
A rare and wonderful piece of Georgian silver; and above all it would be the focal point of any festive occasion.
