Fine Scottish Arts & Crafts Lidded Box, Glasgow School, Hand-hammered Exterior and Hinges
This fine late 19th century brass box dates from the Arts & Crafts movement and has all the hallmarks of the Glasgow Style. While there are no maker’s marks, the quality is as expected from a contemporary of Rennie Mackintosh, Margaret Gilmour etc.
A large and substantial box on rectangular bun feet. Complete with ring handles and hand-crafted hinges, as well as a hand-hammered surface to the entire exterior of the box which showcases the hours spent hammering the brass sheets to bring out said textures. A rare and fantastic piece which would be excellent for a gentleman’s study or smoking lounge. It could hold cigars, accessories or have a lining put in to display watches etc.

Measurements are 22.2 x 14.5cm with a total height of 8 cm.
Good overall condition with some light rubbing as expected and commensurate with age.
