Exceptional 18th century early Chinese Export Silver fork by important maker Bao Ying, High Georgian manner with bright-cut pattern

This piece is for collectors of the finest Chinese export silver; an exceptionally early Chinese Export Silver fork with marks for Bao Ying, a Canton maker active from 1780 to 1825 of “the highest quality items in the high Georgian style”(Von Ferscht). Bao Ying is one of the most important and significant names in Chinese export silver history and pieces bearing their mark rarely come on the market, with most pieces being in museums or private collections.

This piece is in a rare 3 tined pattern and beautifully made in the High Georgian manner with bright-cut engraving throughout and an ornate monogram to the handle, and is likely circa 1780s to 1790s. Hallmarked to the back.

Measurements: 17.5cm length, 28.5 grams.

Very good antique condition overall, with thick gauge and light wear overall commensurate with age, moderate wear to tines. Mark is legible and consistent with Bao Ying’s marks during the earlier period which were relatively less developed.
