Ebonized Wood Framed Victorian Prattware Pot Lid with Florals, Mid 19th Century

A lovely framed mid to late Victorian pot lid that would suit any Prattware collector, and this particularly unusual piece would suit a variety of styles. Carefully mounted in its original ebonized timber frame, this pot lid is wreathed with beautifully coloured examples of English country flowers. Circa 1860-80s, this is a quintessential example of Victorian Prattware, and demonstrates daily entertainment in Victorian times.

The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time. Condition: Light crazing as pictured, as well light wear commensurate with age. It may have had a felt backing at some point but it is long gone. Does not impact use and is still excellent for display.
