Beautiful early 20th century hand-painted Indian wooden panel, carved and painted in what is known in the west as “Tanjore” style. Named after Thanjavur, previously known as Tanjore, which is famed for its beautiful temples and distinctive style of religious art dating to the 11th century.
Here we see a maharajah, crowned and holding a staff, with curtains framing his figure. A bold and beautiful piece, sure to add a pop of colour to its surroundings.
