Nicely executed Japanese Kutani plates circa late Meiji Period (late 19th century), featuring hand-painted mountain scenes of a scholar’s gathering. Well painted border with iron red glaze and gilt details. We have 3 of these plates available. 


First established in 1655, Kutani ware has a long history as one of Japan’s best pottery manufacturing areas, and gained prominence in 1873 when it was exhibited at the World Exposition in Vienna. 


These would be lovely to have at one’s next soiree or elegant dinner gathering. Marked Kutani to base. 


Price marked at $80 AUD each or $240AUD for the set of 3. 

Measurements: 17.5cm diameter, 3 cm high. 

Excellent antique condition, minor wear overall and firing flaws commensurate with age. Some variance in details due to unique hand-painted and antique nature of each piece.
