Charming vintage Royal Doulton toby jug depicting Mr. Pickwick in the rare earlier mid size, first designed by Leslie Harradine and Harry Fenton, issued between 1938 to 1948. Mr Pickwick was a popular character in Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers, and this is from the Charles Dickens’ Characters series. A classic and very popular design, and a very well made piece wiith an A mark to the base denoting a Georgian clay body which was used from 1939 to 1955. A fine toby jug full of character and expressiveness.
Price marked at $160 AUD. Measurements: 11cm high. Excellent vintage condition. Light wear overall commensurate with age, no chips or cracks to note.
