Charming vintage Japanese Showa Period Asahi Shoten .950 Silver miniature salt bucket circa 1940s to 1950s.

Asahi Shoten was opened in Kannai, Yokohama in the 1890s and remains operational today. It was known for its premier tableware and fine jewellery.

This miniature silver salt bucket is crafted in beautifully detailed .950 silver. Japanese silversmiths traditionally craft in the Jungin .950 standard, which is of a higher purity than sterling silver. This was likely originally a salt and pepper set, but unfortunately only the salt bucket remains.

The liner is a lovely bubbled glass and this could still be used as a salt cellar or as a small trinket pot.

Price marked at $350 AUD.

Measurements: 8cm total height, 32.7grams silver weight. Marked Asahi STERLING 950 base.

Excellent vintage condition. Minor wear overall and to base commensurate with age and light use.
