A beautiful set of George V sterling silver fish servers, with marks for Mappin & Webb, Sheffield, 1921. The beautiful pierced design and exquisite etched designs on each piece is a testament to this maker; Mappin & Webb is one of the most storied jewellers in England if not worldwide.
Initial thoughts that this may be either the Onslow or Albany pattern; we will update pending further research. First having held a Royal Warrant since Queen Victoria in 1897, they have continuously held one till the present day.
Their quality meant that they were the silversmiths of choice for royalty around the world, including the British throne, Russian Imperial Household and multiple Indian Maharajas (one of whom ordered a bedroom suite, including a solid silver four poster bed, to be made and shipped to his palace). Other patrons included Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly and more. Churchill in particular was fond of the solid gold ashtrays, which no doubt served good stead for his cigars.

Price marked at $1400 AUD for the pair.
Measurements: 23cm and 29cm length respectively; 231 grams total weight.
Excellent antique condition; substantial and of thick gauge, marks crisp and well-struck.
