Lovely High Victorian sterling silver salver with chased pastoral scene, marks for London, Edward, John & William Barnard circa 1846-1851. While the date mark is rubbed, the quatrefoil cartouche used for the maker’s marks places this to the period the firm was active during 1846-1851. A notable firm, they were commissioned by Queen Victoria to create the Lily font, a large silver gilt baptismal font used in the christening services of members of the British Royal family.

The border features beautiful repousse work, while the interior is chased with a pastoral scene featuring a man, hound and a milkmaid at work. A beautiful piece that remains timeless and collectable.

Price marked at $800 AUD.

Measurements: 17.5cm diameter 1.5cm high.

Very good antique condition; interior pattern and marks are rubbed. Maker’s marks and design pattern still crisp and other marks aside from date mark still legible.
