Antique Japanese ivory netsuke of the Taoist immortal Kinko riding on a red carp
This charming antique Japanese ivory netsuke of the Taoist immortal Kinko, known in China as Qin Dao, riding on a red carp. Signed in kanji to the base. Little information was found on this carver but considering the quality of craftsmanship, this is likely circa Meiji period. Kinko was known to be fond of fish, and this particular netsuke depicts the scene of his 200th birthday when a giant red carp came to pay its respects.
Well-carved with auspicious meaning, and an unusual yet desirable motif.

Excellent antique condition, slight wear commensurate with age.
