George VI Gorham Sterling Silver Tri-Handled Goblet / Cup  Birmingham, 1938.

This would have been made in Gorham's Sterling Works on Barr Street, Birmingham.

Gorham is known as one of America's earliest and greatest silver making houses. The White House has used Gorham silver services during many administrations, with a notable example being one that Mary Todd Lincoln purchased for use in the White House in 1859, which was later presented to the National Museum of American History in 1957.

At times Gorham would research as well as manufacture in England, hearkening back to classic designs. This would be a lovely and quite rare pre-WWI example. It may well have been intended as a loving cup, and would have made a wonderful wedding present.

Price marked at AUD$1925.

Total weight of 385 grams.
