A lovely late 19th century W&R Co. Roses purple polychrome transfer plate manufactured by Ridgways, which unusually features scenes from Charles Dickens Old Curiosity Shop. Ridgways produced both the Roses purple polychrome transfer ware as well as the Charles Dickens series, but this is the first we have seen which combines both the central motif and the purple transfer ware pattern.
