This lovely Guanyin brooch is truly distinctive with several special elements to this piece; a finely carved face made from a single crystal opal, a body formed of gold with silver decorative plaques, a single Ruby earring and 21 single cut diamonds.
Guanyin, the goddess of mercy, is the physical embodiment of compassion in Chinese Buddhism and mythology.
Opals are renowned for their beauty and play of colour but are notoriously difficult to shape. In order to carve this single opal, shaping the stone and carving fine facial features at the exact depth needed to preserve the colour matrix requires a master’s touch.
