Here we have an Australian 1985 Proof Set, issued by the Royal Australian Mint. The first to include a $1 coin, and the 1st with the Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. See the certificate as pictured for numismatic details of individual coins.

Proof coins are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks, such that the designs are particularly brilliant.

In 1984, the Australian one dollar coin was introduced to the general public. As the proof set for 1984 was released prior to that date, the 1985 proof set is the first to include a $1 coin.

Furthermore, the Machin portrait of Elizabeth II was by then seen to be a little dated, and so the proof coins and coinage from 1985 thereafter bore the portrait by Raphael Maklouf.

The packaging and coins in this set are in immaculate condition, and it comes with the original packaging and certificate.
