Art Deco Moorcroft purple lustreware bowl, associated with Liberty and Co
Art Deco Moorcroft purple lustreware bowl, associated with Liberty and Co
A really lovely and rare Art Deco Moorcroft purple lustreware bowl, associated with Liberty and Co. The Moorcroft Burslem mark was used from 1915 onwards, with the full Moorcroft signature trademark being registered in 1919. We have seen several notable dealers describe purple lustreware pieces as dating from the first quarter of the 20th century and we would concur. Based on our research, William Moorcroft first made his name by retailing many of his earlier pieces, including his range of purple lustreware, to significant firms such as Liberty and Co. Several pieces in this style of glaze and from this period bear Liberty marks and/or labels. A lovely, highly collectible piece.
Price marked at AUD$220.
Measurements: 10.5 bowl dia. by 5cm height
Good antique condition with several fleabite chips to rim and light wear to glaze and base. Light overall crazing commensurate with age and wear.
