Art Deco Camusso Peruvian Sterling Silver Cocktail Shaker and Pourer
Art Deco Camusso Peruvian Sterling Silver Cocktail Shaker and Pourer
A substantial and lovely Art Deco style Peruvian sterling silver cocktail shaker and pitcher by the greatest makers in the country. Camusso was founded in 1933 by Italian silversmith Carlo Mario Camusso Grasso. By 1946 his craftsmanship had dominated the local silver market, and his name almost synonymous with Peruvian silver.
Sterling silver marks “"Industria Peruana Plata Esterlina 925 Camusso” to the base, i.e. Made in Peru, Sterling Silver 925, Camusso. These appear to be early Camusso marks, possibly circa 1930s to 40s.
This excellent example of Art Deco silver complete with spout cover, domed lid, ear-shaped handle and elegantly tapered body, is a statement piece that would serve to good purpose in any well-heeled entertainer’s home. Interesting fact: Central and South American silver, despite being marked to sterling silver standards, frequently test higher.
