A lovely early 19th century English porcelain cup & saucer circa 1800-1820. The Bute cup shape was introduced by Spode in 1800 and was immensely popular, but the rapidly shifting tastes of Regency aristocrats meant that the trend had faded by 1820. While this is unmarked, this is certainly from one of the better makers of the time such as Spode with its richly gilded patterns.

Nevertheless with its pattern, gilt garland swags and lovely fluted body, this is a charming example of Regency period porcelain.

Price marked from $480 AUD

Measurements: 8cm total height, saucer diameter of 14cm.

Very good antique condition, minor gilt loss throughout particularly to rims. Unmarked on base.
