A very neat vintage QEII sterling silver novelty jockey cap tea caddy spoon, with marks for Sheffield, 1990, Harrison Brothers & Howson Ltd. With original retailer’s case by George Attenborough & Son, prominent London pawnbrokers and silversmiths. The latter ceased trading in 2020, but prior to that their premises on 193 Fleet Street was known for its excellent selection of silver and fine jewels, with the family business being active since 1844.

Active in the late 19th century, by the 20th century Harrison Brothers & Howson Ltd were one of the biggest manufacturers in Sheffield. They produced many small fine items as well as excellent cutlery, achieving a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria and later from King Edward VIII.

Measurements: 12.1 grams. 1.5cm height. 5.2cm length, 3.5cm spoon bowl diameter.
