Antique Ivory Chinese Dragon Figurine Carved from Tusk

Carved from a single tusk, this figurine is carved from a single piece of ivory in the shape of a dragon with well depicted face and three clawed toes.

The Inclined stand suggests the dragon is soaring into the sky, which brings to mind the Chinese idiom 二龙腾飞- two dragons soar into the sky, which is used to describe speedy success and implies a blessing as such.

Circa late 19th century, early 20th century, this piece is in excellent antique condition.

Measurements: 23.5 cm long, approximately 3 cm high.

Total height including base: 7 cm high.
