Derby, or Royal Crown Derby as it is now known, was founded sometime before 1750, with the exact date of the company's founding not known. The story begins with an entrepreneur named Andrew Planche, who migrated from France to England to escape the religious suppression of the Huguenots during the early 1700s.

In 1775, then owner William Duesbury's hard work was rewarded by King George III. The King bestowed upon Duesbury the rare honor of being allowed to incorporate His Majesty’s crown into the Derby backstamp. The company then became known as Crown Derby.

These lovely yellow Derby cups are circa this era, and are beautiful and affordable examples of early Derby porcelain. These would be an excellent entry point for those looking to start their collection of 18th century porcelain.

Good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. Gilt loss to handles and to upper rim. Overall no chips or cracks to be noted. Please see pictures for individual condition.

Measurements: 6.5 cm diameter, 9 cm at widest point including handle. 6.5 cm high.
