A beautiful George III Regency set of 6 sterling silver table spoons with marks for London, 1805, George Smith IV, bearing the Streete family crest.
The crest is well engraved and depicts a lion rampant, bearing in its forepaws a Catherine-wheel. George Smith III and IV were both well-regarded spoon makers, and the latter was apprenticed to renowned silversmith William Fearn.
Throughout most of English history there was much regional variation with surnames, with the Streete family being descended from the Street family with many settled in Ulster, Ireland. The Street family remains highly prominent in Australia, with many of its members having served important roles in the Australian government including Sir Kenneth's cousin, Brigadier Geoffrey Street, who was Minister of Defence in WWII, and the father of Anthony "Tony" Street, who was Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Price marked at $2300 AUD for the set.
Measurements: 453 grams total weight. 22cm length.
Excellent antique condition, marks crisp and legible. Light wear and rubbing to engraving overall commensurate with age.
