A lovely and practical piece, this antique Edwardian silver clothes brush is a perfect complement to a ladies wardrobe. Made with sterling silver and what is likely badger hair, this is a piece of substantial quality and would have been retailed by the finest stores back in the day.
This lovely piece is hallmarked 1902 and by one of our favourite makers William Comyns, in the style of Reynolds Angels.
Comyn’s refined work had a premier reputation for its intricate designs and excellent quality, and was sold by the world’s best silver companies such as Tiffany & Co.
Reynolds Angels is the name given to a portrait painting by the Georgian master Sir Joshua Reynolds, first exhibited in 1787. It sparked a massive wave of popularity which was later revived in the late Victorian to Edwardian era, as the sentimental cherubs were incredibly to their taste.
Condition: excellent antique condition with only slight wear to bristles, remarkably little to none bristle loss.
A monogram, most likely PH, on one side.
Just under 17cm in length.
